Enter the artwork and a ghost may join you!
Ahh… has commissioned artist Peter Forde to create an immersive piece of public art that places the viewer into the artwork. Back projected onto Ahh…’s Gallery window under Tower Bridge every night when dark, the video installation makes use of its surrounding environment, mirroring the street and the people who walk past the gallery with an added twist. Viewers play an active role in creating short narrative sequence, finding themselves immersed in the artwork. Livening up a previously dull, corporate street, Forde’s work changes and charges the emotional landscape of the area, causing giggles, discussion, engagement and allowing viewers to feel they can play along. This art work is designed to respond to its viewers; as they discover their reflection and become part of the work, the aim is to empower them to realize they can affect the artwork and environment. By being themselves they can join in and shape the work, in return it will charm and have a treat waiting. Using a high-end concept delivered in a low-tech way, Ahh… creates access and entitlement to participate, opening up an exciting form of expression to anyone in the area regardless of their background, feelings, status, or perceived presence.
