moon lovers Group

Aluna is the world's first tidal powered Moon Clock. If all goes according to plan, this 40m wide, 13m high landmark and educational resource will be gracing the banks of the tidal Thames by London 2012 (visit www.alunatime.org for more info and subscribe to Aluna's mailing list for updates). Please join this group and post up anything to do with the Moon. As the Aluna story unfolds between now and 2012, we are looking to collect Moon-related images, facts, myths and legends, focussing around London and the UK but welcoming posts from further afield too! Anything goes... the Moon and the urban environment, culture, religion, spirituality, art, history, nature, science, astronomy, tides, water...the Moon has been vital to our blue planet and human cultures around the world since the dawn of time and the subject is immense, diverse and universal!

I like the O and X effect of the moon and plane

20th January 06:40

Aluna says:

Plane is from City Airport, just down the road from East India Dock Basin (proposed Aluna site), where the moon is always very clearly visible. It has a fantastic aspect looking east, south and west (the whole of the moon's traverse) across the tidal waters of the Thames.
One of the reasons we don't understand natural cycles like the moon's anymore is because our views to the sky and our horizons are so limited by buildings, buildings and more buildings...
Nonetheless, seeing the moon peeking above a city skyline is beautiful too, so please send in any images of London's moon to the moon lovers group!
