Standing guard outside the Palm House at Kew Gardens are the 'Queen's Beasts'. These ten heraldic figures (of which this is one, and my favourite – 'cos he's a bit weirder and less pompous than the rest) are Portland stone replicas by the original sculptor, of those which stood at Westminster Abbey during the coronation of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. They were presented anonymously to the gardens in 1956.
