MOBiOG: hit the street

I'm nige. Photographer and aesthete, with a love of capturing things at street level, be they people, art, or otherwise.

Public art, in my opinion, is the most relevant form of art we have in the UK at the moment. It captures the zeitgeist, and does so without containing itelf in the walls of high-brow galleries, choosing instead to confront us whilst we are moving from A to B, when something else is occupying our minds & our time. We are busy people, working longer hours than we ever have. Time is fleeting, and with so little of it left to spend with our families and friends, what time have we for art?

So, this is why i am interested in that which will make me stop - even if for just a moment - and think, or provoke a reaction in me. Sculpture | Grafitti | Architecture | Installation | Performance. These are my areas of interest, and i hope to convey that interest with this moblog.

concrete hug

inspired by the Robert Burns poem.

O, wert thou in the cauld blast,
On yonder lea, on yonder lea,
My plaidie to the angry airt,
I'd shelter thee, I'd shelter thee.
Or did Misfortune's bitter storms,
Around thee blaw, around thee blaw,
Thy bield should be my bosom,
To share it a', to share it a'.

Nice one Nige I like Ronnie's work, he sometimes gets bad publicity from people who misunderstand his work. Good shot, good light, good quote.

Could you rename it 'Granite Hug' as Ronnie is a man of granite and nothing else (I suggested he take up marble carving, it didn't go down well!)
